What compressing JP2 actually does
JP2 is a JPEG 2000 file: it compresses noticeably better than JPEG but opens almost nowhere. It comes from medical equipment, digital archives, scanners and pro cameras. The codec has both lossless and lossy modes; the lossy one cuts the file several times over.
